Dr. Meg Smart, DVM / PhD
Dr. Smart has been consulting with COAST+RANGE since 2017 and advises the company on canine nutrition, ingredient selection, and product formulations. Meg is a member of the COAST+RANGE Nutrition Council.
Prior to working with COAST+RANGE, Meg had a distinguished fifty-year career in academia teaching pathology, clinical pathology, and animal medicine. She spent twenty-one of those years teaching clinical nutrition and is Professor Emeritus from the Department of Small Animal Clinical Studies, University of Saskatchewan where she earned her PhD in Animal Nutrition. Meg is a graduate of the University of Guelph where she earned a degree in Veterinary Science and is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
Leith Henry, Functional Foods Specialist
Leith is a Functional Food Specialist and a global expert on canine nutrition. She helps pet parents and Veterinarians with some of their most difficult canine nutrition problems and is often the last hope for dogs with severe digestive issues. Leith has been working with COAST+RANGE since early 2018 where she advises on the selection of functional ingredients for our foods and the benefits of rotational diets. Leith is also a member of the COAST+RANGE Nutrition Council.
Leith studied at The College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies, UCSC Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems, and UC Davis, and is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Natural Health Consultant, published author, public speaker, Industry Formulation Consultant, and fierce Animal Rights Advocate. Her areas of special interest and study include Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles of food therapy, Ayurvedic principles of food therapy, biochemical nutrition, and Eastern and Western herbology.
Dr. Renee Streeter, DVM
Dr. Renee Streeter has been consulting with COAST+RANGE since 2017 and helps with ingredient selection and product formulations. Renee has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with a degree from Ross University. Renee has also completed a residency in Clinical Nutrition at Cornell University and is a Board Certified Veterinary NutritionistTM.
Scientific + Regulatory Affairs
We have several advisors who ensure that every product we make at COAST+RANGE is in compliance with all state, FDA, and Association of American Feed Control Officers (AAFCO) laws and standards. These consultants include PhD's and Veterinarians who advise the company on the testing and nutritional requirements for pet food and treats.
